To support The French National Sea Rescue Society, Cinabre has launched a limited edition sarong in collaboration with Hubert Poirot-Bourdain, a sea-lover artist who has collaborated, (among others) with Castelbaljac, or the Atelier Saint Lazare.
The SNSM is an association whose mission is to rescue lives at sea on a voluntary basis, and their budget relies on the generosity of private donors. For each sarong purchased, 50€ are donated to the SNSM to finance the training and equipment of its volunteers, who often risk their lives to save us.
The design was created by Hubert Poirot-Bourdain and printed in Italy in a workshop near Lake Como. The design is spread over a generous format of 180 cm by 100 cm, made in the Monts du Lyonnais.
Our sarong is made of 100% cotton fabric. An albatross flying peacefully over the water is represented in the center of the pareo. Below, we can see a boat in the colors of the SNSM, on which the bird seems to watch over. Hubert chose the albatross because it is a mythical bird of the southern seas, one of the rare presences in the southern seas that comes to comfort sailors in these often hostile lands. A quote, translated in French, from Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is the caption of this drawing. "At length did cross an Albatross, Thorough the fog it came".
